At Least Six Perish in Crowd Crush at Ghanaian Military Recruitment Event

No fewer than six individuals have died amid a crowd crush at a armed forces enlistment gathering held in a sports arena in Ghana.

The midweek "tragic" incident appeared to have been triggered by "a sudden rush of applicants who breached security protocols and rushed into the entrances," stated a release from Ghana's armed forces.

Twenty-two additional individuals were injured, including five who remain in critical condition.

Thousands had turned up at the El-Wak sports venue, in the capital, the capital, with the hope of joining the armed forces.
